Ah, the good old days when you could just waltz into a new place without having to worry about credit checks. It seems like that comedy special really had an impact on your housing decisions! Times sure have changed since then, haven't they?
I got a decent studio for 675 bucks, no security deposit (First month free). I was 23 or 24. Great times.
