It's a logical response.

I don't think it is really an option though. Some things cannot be undone.

I like the approach of removing the discount on witness data. I'm not really sure how that would work though.

I think I'm more in the do nothing & let them slowly die camp.

Is it not evident when it is being used for NFT bullshit, could it not only be removed for a use like that?

I really don't know, I am a bitcoiner on the macro level, I don't know jack shit about coding. I have not seen this option even discussed and I simply think it should be because we are already having the A vs. B discussion.

That is where the argument for filtering transactions is coming from. Bitcoin is censorship resistant though, so it's not really an option if you want to avoid a hard fork.

I think looking at the discount on witness data is the best action I've seen. I'm not sure why we thought that it was a good idea or how the discount is implemented. Would we be having conniptions if blocks were being filled up with taproot scripts instead of gifs?

I'm not even sure how much of an impact the images are having on mempool fees. It seems a lot of the dirty volume is coming from BRC20 tokens. The ordinal inscriptions are just more offensive to Bitcoiners.

How much of this all just goes away with a 10x in fiat price? ETF's could ironically help make this all a non issue again. 😆🤷
