Ah, been like this since a few updates ago

Battery saver mode for now I guess

Yeah it seems that sometimes the OS doesn't send the pause notification to the app, which may leak things the devs weren't expecting. There is also some bug with he background data option on settings that reactivates after a while.

It's hard to say what exactly the issue is,.but we have not seeing background usage on sponsored distros like Google's or Samsung's.
