Voluntary communism works fine in small groups. It was effective for building the kibbutz system. But every time it was tried at the state level it became an authoritarian disaster. It can’t scale.

"works". Yeah, I have never seen a single example in my life of a commune that wasn't run by a cult leader. Of course it works, it's small scale authoritarianism hiding behind platitudes.
