What could be done as society to halt or change the direction of facial recognition, biometric identification that is unfolding right in front of us?

Is this inevitable? Is there a chance? Recourse? Or are we simply going to traverse through this whether we like it or not?

Would bottom up voting have any difference considering so many prefer safety over freedom?
