When I was 16 there weren't debit cards really. Bank of America issued me a credit card when I opened a checking account and if it ever was overdrawn it would simply charge the credit card instead of an overdraft fee. Weird moment in banking. I have had that same credit card my entire life with a monthly payment on time. It has a tiny interest rate.
