After 14 years working in the same industry I gave my notice today and will be leaving at Easter. The job is worlds apart from when I started as a 24 year old. Post Covid I’ve seen a huge decline in an already broken system. In the past year I have been spat at, kicked, chair thrown at me, bit on the arm and worst of all, the straw that broke the camels back, punched in the face just before Christmas. I am/was a primary school teacher (10/11 yr olds).

Not dissimilar to nurses in the NHS, many teachers are leaving with no plans to return. The alarm that should be raised is the amount of teachers that are wanting to homeschool their own children. Away from the pressure cooker of 30 children packed into a classroom with a large number of complex needs in each class.

Am I anxious? yeh slightly. Excited? HELL YEH! I’m not sure what road I’m going to go down just yet but 2025 is time for a fresh start. Life is about taking risks. Those who care least win most.
