Worship is too strong of a word for me but respect, reverence, admiration etc. works I'm my book. 🙂

Well unfortunately we are all hypocrites to some degree.

When it's "institutionalized" is when it really been be bad.

If I remember correctly there was once wise man who pointed out the hypocrites of the ruling class.

He is a very wise man, well worthy of attention.
