I bought my first bitcoins over IRC. More recently I’ve used exchanges, folks here dislike that approach.

What’s a good option for purchasing peer to peer today?

Robosats is a great option for ease, security and privacy, and I know many people swear by Bisq and Hodl Hodl

Just keep your kyc/exchange stack separate from your kyc-free stack if you start one 🤙

That last point is super important…!

Do you take it a step further and use Samourai, Sparrow, or Wasabi to coinjoin?

If I spend those sats in the future I’ll probably coinjoin. But for now I’m just accumulating in that stack

What’s your preferred p2p exchange?

Big fan of buying via robosats (and tbh the only one I’m really familiar with)

Runs over Tor, fees are low, it runs over Lightning but will give you a swap to on-chain if requested. And the escrow model makes it pretty secure so it’s highly unlikely you’ll get ripped off using most fiat payment methods

Nope. I’d like to buy 7 sats from you for 7 sats. 😅

I haven't because I'm not sure where accepts AUD

Try Robosats - they let you search for sellers in your currency of choice

Bisq as well…two offers currently accepting AUD or set up your own offer as maker.

Never user so far 😔

Highly recommend robosats!

Download the Tor browser and you can access the marketplace that way. Just keep your kyc stack and your non-kyc stack in separate wallets 🫡

Double recommend.
