I don't normally talk about politics or religion on Nostr (or anywhere), but here's my take on the whole Biden Easter thing:

Bear in mind that I'm not American, and I have no skin in the game.

I'm also not a Trump guy.

It's a hokey ploy to direct attention towards him and his failing campaign. It's utteryly distasteful, divisive and not very bright, but hey look, it worked, everyone is talking about him, either in shock or disgust or with sycophantic ovation from the likes of Bluesky (I'm speculating).

I've talked about this kind of thing before on Nostr, all of these nonsense holidays, there are a million of them because it's low hanging fruit for a politician to 'mint' one of these 'such and such international whatever day' or 'week' or even 'month' and gain some political capital from the people that it appeals to, but it's a scam, there is no proof of work behind it.

Gain something for nothing, isn't that the instint of a career politician?

A lot of christians follow Trump. I'm not going to comment on the sociology of who follows Trump and why, but it's clear that Biden felt that by doing this hokey ploy, sure , he would attract some ire from whatever cristian voters he has perhaps, but that most of the cristians are Trump voters anyway, and so it was worth it to gain support from another group, the new orthodoxy, the NGO driven censorship obsessed neo-Marxist transhumanist anti-family bridgade, call them what you will, that's just my term for them, it's a little bit long, I might need to think of an appropriate abbreviation.

But then, we live in very confusing times , because Pope Francis is working hard to cosy up to the aforementioned group, in what I percieve as an attempt to bootstrap the Catholic church to the political power that those groups represent in direct violation of the churches own teachings, which is quite honestly unforgivable.

But in summary, the Biden thing, it's cheap it's hokey, it's quintessential modern American politics, what more can you say about it?

I think that's a very level headed look at things.

Exactly 👍

Christianity and traditionalism is declining, it’s a bad investment. (For a politician)

Sadly so.

We are entering into a demographic winter, and the traditionalists will be viewed quite differently indeed.

I think there will continue to be less of them for some time.

It's been March 31st for 15 years. The outrage is hilarious.

The transgender day has been?

yeah. it's not a new thing. maybe it's new for the president to announce it, but it started a long time ago. it's as old as Bitcoin 😂

It's a hokey ploy either which way.

it looks like the first time it was presidentially announced was in 2021. easter changes dates, this day does not, like christmas or valentine's day, so it was bound to happen. i think people are using this as fuel for a fire that's already burning.

It’s fake outrage to get the base riled up about something that they don’t actually have to do anything to fix

That's all politicians do anymore is do bullshit to make their base bang their drums. Politicians aren't supposed to be worshipped. It's a really bad look.

When it comes time to vote there is little difference between the two parties. When it comes to policies, they say they support different interests. When it comes to social issues that the government really shouldn’t be involved in they scream it from the rooftops and beat their chests on tv so everyone is talking about stupid things instead of the important things that they don’t want to talk about.

Yep. It's all a distraction.

At the risk of sounding like an old fuddy duddy, the celebration of Christ's ressurection is a good bit older than that, and your nations foundational documents rely on recognition God, and if the part is double-booked so to speak, to whom should we pay homage to?

Fair points, but also the separation of Church and State is a foundation of our country too.

unpopular opinion but this was more to protect the church from the state then vice versa... same way Bitcoin wants to separate money to protect it from the state

Absolutely

That's true to an extent, and I would agree with the seperation.

Theres are certain theological concepts that would be catastrophic were they to be removed from your constitution, but

I've no appettite for quarrel so I'll shake your hand and leave it here.

💯 🎯

But shit like this lining up on dates is like an eclipse level event for memes !
