Coco Chanel was the founder of Chanel brand.
So, During World War II, she became involved with a German officer named Hans Gunther von Dincklage, who was an intelligence officer for the Nazi regime, yeah the Nazi regime.
Chanel used her connections with von Dincklage to try to regain control of her fashion empire, which had been taken over by Jewish businessmen after she fled to Switzerland during the war. She also used her position to try to secure the release of her nephew, who had been imprisoned by the Germans.
There are also allegations that Chanel was involved in anti-Semitic activities and may have been a Nazi sympathizer. However, the extent of her involvement with the Nazi regime is still a matter of debate among historians.
After the war, Chanel faced accusations of collaboration with the Nazis and was questioned by French authorities. She eventually managed to clear her name and reestablished her fashion empire. That's the story in short.
