Nostr Web Client

I'm here for two days and welcoming was not so warm in Amethyst. I tried Nostr around a year ago and it's not a problem to make profile. But here's so much spam. I'm replying like machine gun, but like nobody can see me. Got 4 followers and one report from some crazy guy.

Make Sure to remove relays where the spam appears. Nostr is currently attacked.

If Amethyst right, all default relays hit me with a spam.

Yes. Most free relays currently can't handle the spam. People are working on it, but with mixed success. I'm currently figuring out myself what's best to use right now.

Damus relay seems to do a good job currently. Remove the other free ones. Try to get on wot relays or nostr.wine

Damus is getting spammed to death with imposter spam.

I don't see it there currently.

Feel free to add nfrelay.app , read-only aggregator relay. It has already spam filter to handle most spam like RplyFamily and imposter 🙂

What you mean read-only? But how to reply and post?

You can freely use any other relay to write for example relay.damus.io nos.lol nostr.wine or other major relays. nfrelay.app will fetch/mirror automatically from other relays your notes/events and will store the event.

But how could I connect to your relay for reduce spam, and still write to major relays? Everybody tells me to disconnect from majors. How does it work?

What is your nostr clients? If it is Amethyst you can set it with something like this

"Down arrow" icon meaning is to set relay as "Read" relay while "Up arrow" is to set as "Write". You can set both active or just one arrow icon.

Example:

nos.lol - write and read

nostr.wine - read

wot.utxo.one - write and read

nfrelay.app - read

relay.damus.io write

and etc.

Yeah, I use Amethyst. Didn't know that it can be tuned like that. Thanks, will try!

Followed. Don't be frustrated. You don't need to be a machine gun. You just need to be consistent. This is my third account building from the ground. I've made some mistakes doxing myself and compromising my key (testing out other clients). Now I use Amber and keep my VPN "always on" mode. Seeing as we are so early I decided it's better to start over again now as opposed to later. It was also beneficial to spin up a new key with a mnemonic backup which wasn't available when I first started. at some point there will probably be key rotation in which I'll probably burn a key again.

Focus on being positive, real and forming meaningful connections. The stuff that worked on legacy social doesn't fly here.

Thank you! Followed back. I didn't think someone needs someone's keys, I just installed amethyst and create a new pair in app. Saved them on password manager and that's all. I hope Amethyst doesn't send my keys to anyone. As I understand, normal client connects only with relays, right?

We're under a spam attack now. You need to tweak your relays to use paid ones, web of trust relays, and small community relays. Avoid the major popular relays. Remove them.
