I’m not a fan of spam, but I don’t see it as the existential threat to Bitcoin that the pro-filter cohort seems to. In fact, if you REALLY believe in Bitcoin, you should be comfortable with all kinds of spam on the chain, knowing that it’s not really valuable to anyone and won’t stand the test of time. It’s just pump-and-dumps and other scams. In ten years, no one will want the rune you minted, but they’ll still want bitcoin.
