Well a leap of fight not really. All those maps are built over repetitive behaviour. They describe reality with a degree of imperfection that does not affect their ability to predict future behaviour. That is their usefulness, nothing else

even debunked/incomplete maps like a geocentric solar system or Newton’s Laws were predictive until they had to account for phenomena that didn’t add up. I suspect the predictive successes will prove only to be partial.

Of course. Is partial and useful only for the specific operations they were build for. Any further detail or level of precision would be only an unuseful burden.
