Long long ago, in early 2023, weeks before bluesky had ever sent their first beta invite, someone created a note on nostr no one could see that tagged ~1280 people. People started replying asking what it was. Then more replies. Then memes. Then the word hellthread spawned. Muting threads had not been implemented in any clients yet, so for several days while various devs worked on that, notifications became completely unusable. It eventually died down.

Then, a few months later, in what should have been an early red flag about not learning lessons from predecessors, the same exact shit happened on Bluesky.
