I still don’t understand the pride stuff, what is there to be proud of. If you say you were born gay then it wasn’t your choice and had nothing to do with your actions. So what’s there to be proud of? This applies to everything in life if you didn’t do anything to make it happen and it requires no work on your end then being proud of it makes no sense. Be proud of your accomplishments, not your sexuality, skin tone, mental illness etc.

Yeah, I know. In defense of the “gay pride” slogan, it was invented in a time when homosexuality was widely viewed as something to feel ashamed of. (In some places, like Saudi Arabia, it still is.) “Gay unashamedness” probably wouldn’t have inspired as much courage.
