It is apparently an unbelievable and foreign thought to some on here that many artists actually make a living off their art. If you’re against the profitable monetization of content and art, please go fuck yourself right off my contact list.

Making a “living” is probably overstating it a bit for most artists. But yah, artists like to sell their art for money.

I said many, not most. But regardless of your pedantry, yes making money off your craft is a good thing. Fuck you too.

For each piece of work, yes. For infinitely digitally copied art... does a carpenter get 5 cents from each person who sits in a chair? Does the key grip get a percentage of a cent each time the VHS is resold? Musicians should get paid per performance, painters per painting, etc. Any agreement with publishers is extra, imho. Art is a miracle, but if you can't keep up performances, or constantly create something new, you should have practical skills to live off of as well.

Many artists make a living off their craft, but few make a living off of their art. I’d suggest the ratio is about the same as athletes.

Lots of people of in Delulu Land. You do you.
