One critical oversight I’ve observed is hindering the potential of #nostr from truly taking off. Developers are shifting their focus from creating tools for those who value freedom and uncensored communication to catering to the mainstream those who prioritize security filters and conventional norms.

THIS IS A MONUMENTAL MISTAKE.

You will never surpass mainstream applications by trying to appeal to the average user. They are not seeking freedom, they are chasing fame, likes, and superficial validation.

This misalignment is precisely why many freedom advocates and sovereign individuals are disengaging, and some big names even didnt get here.

Even figures like Edward Snowden, who once recognized the potential of this platform, have stepped back and gone away forever if the direction keeps the same.

It’s time to refocus. Understand the needs of those who truly value sovereignty and privacy. If you continue down this path, you risk losing the very community that could propel #nostr to greatness.

Wake up, developers! Embrace the vision of a free and uncensored future, or risk being left behind.

what freedom features/tools do you think people should be devloping that aren’t?

what platform is snowden currently active on?

What im saying is that at some point devs change the direction, but specially the defaults, developing like you developing to high risk individuals like snowden, tor by default for example, not kycing people to use wallets integrated on clients etc etc

Snowden uses twitter, because why he would use #nostr if all clients are trying to be like twitter and dont have 1% of audience?

The question we need to make is, why #nostr is not attracting people like Assagne, like Ross Ulbritch, like David Icke etc etc etc

I agree that clients with more privacy features would be great. But the main reason we need them is so that they are available when the high risk users can no longer use twitter.

You said it yourself, the reason they aren’t here is because of the reach. No amount of privacy features is going to change that.

As long as they are speaking somewhere, I am fine with them not speaking here.
