In order to 'zap' anyone I have to create a lightning network-compatible wallet like Wallet of Satoshi, correct?

Maybe I’m wrong. But for sending zap you can you use every ln wallet. But to receive a zap you need a wallet that support NIP-57. So WoS and ln.tips and some others, support that feature. But for sending you can use other wallets.

What is damus? Is it a client? I am using Amethyst rn.

Damus is a nostr client for iOS. I using damus. On Amethyst it should work too.
