Totally fair. Just my own thought process was 1) running a lightning node sucks and I just don’t want to do it 2) I consider the Breez and Phoenix fees paying it forward to get some financially sustainable lightning companies going.

The hard truth is in the grand scheme of the world lightning adoption is still tiny and has a long way to go, and I worry it won’t ever hit mass adoption if we don’t have at least a few companies actually profiting off of it. An industry with no profits in a high interest rate environment will only attract passionate first adopters (here bitcoiners), not so much mainstream investors. The profitable business case for on chain is there, but for lightning the jury is still out imho.
