Yeah, always had a love-hate relationship with SONY. They designed great products, but always wanted to lock you into their ecosystem.

Agreed. I worked for Sony UK for 7 years back in the 90's as QA, so I am biased. Apple does the same thing with their products. Adaptors, sockets etc all have to comply to only their specs , annoying.
