The idea of making land into personal property I guess.
There must have been people from the start smart enough to realize the land supply is unknown, but the human supply is known to be infinite, so expansionism will result in running out of land, forcing us to collectivism.

There's not unlimited land on Earth but there's an unlimited supply of humans
Instead of sharing that burden in a balanced way, there are just a small number of humans who get to have all the land they want
They control the land by force and it's wrong but they call it "ownership" and suddenly people are ok with it
