i noticed that but naively thought it was a coincidence. very sneaky of them.

what is a mystery to me is how bad Amazon is with search and reviews still yet somehow able to remain the leader ...

Easy. Prime and 1 or 2-day shipping. It's becoming more and more expensive though, so expect them to be overtaken

i expect them to remain the leader for at least a decade. the momentum is too large. i have thousands of orders on Amazon without a single truly horrible experience and there are many other sites on which i only ever had one order and it went truly horrible, like having to do credit card charge back. add to this Amazon's free same day delivery and 24/7 support that always picks up the phone and i rarely even bother checking other sites.

it would be an interesting thought experiment of what it would take to beat Amazon but honestly if i was an entrepreneur i would pick almost any other battle instead.

Right. But people are getting poorer, and Prime is becoming more expensive. Take a look at countries where Amazon didn't take off. People say America has freedom, and maybe that's true, but 1-day shipping across such vast area is truly amazing.

nah the popular items are not more than 100 miles away from where you are. in my case the same-day shipping items are probably 30 minute truck drive away from me when i order them.

There are thousands of warehouses spread over a huge area. That's what I meant. Amazon's edge is all that infrastructure. They couldn't do it at such huge scale anywhere else. Amazon UK, DE, JP are successful, but those countries are very dense.

America is set up for trucking. Europeans think they have infrastructure but it's all useless shit like Trains and Buses.

LOL

i'm out to sleep.
