Having scaled to the summit alongside Torpado Kenda FSA, Klimatiza Orbea suffered double misfortune, which allowed Fabian Rabensteiner and Casey South to race into La Punt and win Stage 1. In the UCI Women's race, Vera Looser and Alexis Skarda outclimbed their rivals to earn a commanding 4:21 advantage over the Buff Megamo team.
