This is a bit of a ramble I haven’t fully thought this one through yet but hear me out. I’ve been living in Vancouver BC for a little over a year now and I cross the Canada USA border often. One thing that I have been noticing is how every time I enter America I feel a subtle but noticeable sense of relief. I have talked about this experience with a few people Canadians and Americans and have heard similar things. Canada seems to have a subtle negative feeling. Then today it occurred to me that Canadians get taxed like crazy and that the subconscious effect of having 50% or more of your life’s energy siphoned off by the government would cause negative feelings even if everyone isn’t consciously aware of this I feel like the human spirit knows when it’s being stolen from and it’s depressing.
