I really dont understand why have a hardwallet. It s so much cheaper to have a cold wallet with electrum.

you have to define cheaper and see the pros and cons. of course they both achieve a high level of security, but working with electrum itself is very difficult for the average user.
"cheaper" relative to what? if you hold 100 dollars, then sure, but if you're holding 1+ coin, then nothing is more expensive than to not ensure 100% safety of your coins.
if you're comfortable with your method that's great. but I think the hardware wallet is designed for those who hold their coins with custodians like Coinbase, are not technical, are willing to buy more but wouldn't cuz they simply don't understand bitcoin.
we need to do all we can to get those damn coins off exchanges.
A cold wallet is a wallet that never reaches the web. I all needed are 2 old phones. One to sign transactions (the offline) and one to see may balance and receive or make payments which are only possible IF signed by my offline phone.
true. I use an old computer to do some airgapped work. and works great for me.
I never thought of that, very interesting. would it still work if the phones are different OS?
I truly believe electrum is the best there is out there. It has so many feature including multisig wallet, 2fa wallet , standard wallet and cold wallet.
The OS is irrelevant as long as there is a version of electrum for it. For instance there is no electrum version to iphone but there is one for macos. I use an android for my offline wallet. This phone has never reached the internet since I installed electrum. And prior to install the app I did a factory reset.
