I pay a lot of attention to Thiel, don’t always agree but he has very good insights.

This point might well be his best and could ultimately be the thing he’s remembered for.

People who have high-level dichotomous traits but who can hold and manage them together without being a basketcase is the shortcut to identifying brilliance.

These people are very rare. Most minds can’t handle operating polar opposites simultaneously. Those few who can accelerate across the board and if you can find and harness them you’ve got a superhuman destined for great things on your hands.

I’m friends with 2 of these people and they blow me out of the water, I would feel inadequate with them were I a weaker man. I also worked with another years back and he was in another realm; he went on to do incredible things with trivial ease.

A weird thing to identify value in but Thiel is 100% right on this.
