Alby Go + Alby Hub = 🔥
Discussion
Yes love it as well
From my Alby hub to yours⚡️⚡️
Wish it worked without alby's backend; I'd love to host the whole Hub myself, auth & everything.
it works without Alby's backend!
We specifically use NWC in Alby Go as a protocol that directly can talk to your self hosted Alby Hub and in v1.8 you also no alby account is required anymore with the hub. (you might want an account for notifications, ln address, etc. but it is not required.)
So Alby Go talks directly to your Alby Hub wherever you host it.
Hmm, when I bring up a new AlbyHub v1.8 it still asks me to connect my Alby account during the onboarding to get the Authorization code..
(and yes, I tried deleting ~/.local/share/albyhub)
hmm. it says 1.8.0 in the UI for you? during the onboarding you should be prompted about the account and also in settings you can now disconnect.
btw. 1.9.0 was just shipped.
It's the go-to way to self host, hand down. 🙌
Once they remove the requirement to have a getalby account, it'll be truly self sovereign.
so bankend LN supports more than lnbits ? i heard top ones are supported
AlbyHub does support several backends (LND, CLN, BreezSDK, Greenlight, Cashu etc) - but it also come with its own embedded node (using LDK), which is the easiest nntaleb way to start for fresh users. Just deposit on-chain funds, press Open channel and off you go. Or alternatively, purchase an incoming channel from an LSP
Thanks digging more
biggest COOL thing own embedded LN node (hope no sudden force channel closure issue here)
no need use other backends at all
GUI friendly to open channels
rest goodies of HUB store nwc etc...
albygo wallet for mobile
Yes. But you are still not fully immune to force closes; these are part of the LN network and if your channel wants to FC on you, they can - no matter which node you have.
But the recommended channel peers in AlbyHub tend to be pretty good in that regard.

Cool
