What everyone is looking for in life is something they can throw their weight behind.

In my case, utilities engineering, ever since about 2009, I’ve seen this frankly ridiculous global warming/ later climate change (when they realised the temperature wasn’t increasing) narrative completely overtake utilities engineering. Net-zero, sustainability, low carbon, smart meters (which promote lower energy use) I can’t get behind it. It’s a total scam. But that’s where all the money is, created by phoney government policy, and people with no foibles are getting rich and climbing the ranks.

So I see my peers who toe the line and talk the nonsense get promoted to high positions and six figure salaries.

But I can’t sell out. It’s a total scam.

So here I am, a stranger in my field, frightened to say what I clearly see. A clear sighted individual in a crowd of brainwashed peers.

So I found another way to promote myself and it wasn’t climbing the greasy pole.

I'd add hydrogen and mixed plastic recycling to the list, too.

On the upside, after the lights go out and the tax base starts rebelling, your skills with integrity will be in high demand.

I hope so.

I did go for a job with the electricity regulator but showed too many of my cards. They chose their usual net-zero policy wonk. I think it would have been a losing battle anyway trying to change from the inside. The climate change act is a law. Until it gets scrapped we’re basically going nowhere.

Hydrogen renewable fuels etc all CAN be done, but just because you can do something, it doesn’t mean you should.

Most brainwashed engineers fall into this camp. They don’t question the why, they only question the how.
