Any recommendations for a free self custodial wallet with NWC?
I use Coinos (custodial), linked with Alby and connected to #Amethyst.
I can no longer send zaps. I assume this is because Alby wants a self-custodial wallet linked to its service.

Why connecting Coinos to Alby and then Amethyst? Just grab the NWC string from Coinos and paste that straight to Amethyst without Alby in-between.
Is that a thing? I'm looking all over coinos and can't find it.
Yep. From the home screen in your Coinos wallet, tap the settings cog and copy your Nostr Wallet Connect, then paste that into Amethyst's zap settings.
Ty bro. I have done this... I also unlinked alby. For some reason, when I try to zap, the little purple circle over the zap button never fully completes. It just hangs there. Maybe it takes a minute to allow the connection?
If you want self custody with nwc, self host the albyhub. One line docker comman and you are up and running.
People can also lose a lot of money on chain fees by oversimplified advice like this. I recommend reading about lightning, chain fees, channel partners, etc before just jumping in. There was not the same financial risk from ineptitude from the custodial alby product.
