I don't get why they would pick a side in this. Just have both available and go on about your day.

Yeah, you don’t have to play a political role.

Just be a market place.

Yeah let us decide

I could run knots and core if I had a larger hard drive for my old RPi.

I don't read that as they picked a side, they have both options available?

they are making one the preferred option (knots)

Yes and as we know, preferred options are sticky, so it’s best to just remove the option during the next update.

that's not how i read that ... they have a community registry (where knots is now) and a primary registry (start 9 maintains the primary etc...)

so they would be showing both in the start 9 registry, right now only core shows up... source, my node

"still to be determined moving core gets moved to the community registry"

seems like they are pro knots and anti core for even suggesting that

if they do then i think comments are fair but all they've agreed to do is put them in the same registry for user to choose installation, i don't see that as a preferred option

Right now the way they have it could be read “pro BC” plus as is it’s wonky to use Knots; you have to activate Dev mode by clicking a word five times. Now that you have 13% of the network using it, it makes sense to update the presentation.

Seems you are suggesting they shouldn’t be allowed to have an opinion

I believe that the reason they are in different registries is because the current version of StartOS can’t tell the difference between Core and Knots. In the soon to be released next version that won’t be an issue. They’re probably talking about considering switching their places in the mean time.

And if they decide to make Knots the default and take away your choice…

Go run Umbrel.

And before was making the preferred option (Bitcoin Core)

Ohh the irony…

So…. Choice is good?

Making one default is bad?

Freedom of choice is 🔑

I personally dont run knots but to each there own, as long as they understand what they are doing. Multiple node implementation's does provide optionality, even if not properly maintained.

Other chains have multiple client and bode software which provides further decentralization.

I switched to Knots a while ago but other apps have to prioritize Knots way before Start9 will make it the default

This is exactly what will happen with any prebuilt node implementation. Learn to run your preferred software yourself locally.

You’re on the wrong side of this. Get used to it.
