I ended up abandoning the purchase, onchain transactions are a bit too ghetto for me

Can you blame them? Imagine needing to front capital via a channel just to accept your most expensive item to sell

It’s a professional payment processor, I absolutely do blame them. They only need the absolute minimum, and if that is unacceptable, they can use a service themselves.
