Agree. Most of my listening on the subject is a net positive.

One example is they will cull the oldest male elephant whom will start to become overly aggressive towards the younger ones.

This behaviour is a net negative for the population as the older ones can prevent the life cycle to continue if the geriatric elephant takes out the young.

This behaviour is observed and an auction to ‘trophy’ hunt is held. The proceeds are directly funding the management and research for all the good things you’d want the money to go towards. As well, in some cases if possible, feeding the locals with the harvest.
