Imho the civil society broke down comepletely during covid in most places. That is the space that was taken by extremists now that just claim everything you have moral superiority and don't need to go into a democratic process of discussion.

Just like in other place, where those bunch gave themselves a license to judge what’s moral and good and what’s not, enabled by the government. And everyone they didn’t like was a nazi and a fascist.

Western democracies were hit the hardest, especially with the vax passports and mandates. I would avoid those, or at least make sure I can’t be coerced into doing something I don’t want to.
