Progressivism is killing San Francisco faster and faster

Westfield, which is the main "mall" in the "centre" of the city, has announced that it will return the property to the owner. With 55% occupancy, the business is becoming completely unfeasible.

In addition to recurrently finding human feces in elevators, the development's stores suffer from constant shoplifting.

Weighing in disfavor is the departure of the Nordstorm anchor store, which occupied part of about 4 floors of the site.

Some of the stores that closed in the Union Square area of San Francisco between 2020 and 2023:

→ Abercrombie & Fitch

→ Amazon Go

→ Anthropologie

→ Banana Republic

→ Disney

→ Gap

→ H&M

→ Marshall's

→ Nordstorm

→ Office Depot

→ Uniqlo

→ Whole Foods

Other relevant stores that also closed their doors: Arc'teryx, Athleta, CB2, Crate & Barrel, DSW, The Container Store, The RealReal.

Accentuating the city's deterioration, CVS closed at least six of its stores in 2022 and Walgreens another ten since 2019 due to insecurity and constant thefts.

According to Target, thefts like these caused a loss of more than $400 million in its profit in 2022 alone.

What are the California policies that benefit these malefactors to commit the so-called smash and grab and shoplift?

→ Proposition 47: Allows thefts of up to $1,000 dollars without the perpetrator being arrested (goes through a kind of custody hearing and is released – it was downgraded from "crime/offense" to "misdemeanor").

→ Proposition 57: Granted probation for "non-violent crimes" such as trespassing, burglary, larceny and drug dealing, eg.

→ Drug decriminalization: The city offers free kits for drug users, such as disposable syringes, for example. So far, in 2023 alone, more than 200 people have died from an overdose.

→ Camping anywhere: Homeless people can set up tents wherever they want, including in front of your shop or garage, and cannot be removed by you or the police because "the city is also theirs", except by "willingness" .

→ Allowances: Illegal immigrants can access unemployment benefit of $300/week for up to 20 weeks. SF offers homeless people $588/month, not including free shelters. It is still possible to get another $190 for free food – which junkies sell in Chinatown ($0.60/$1) to buy drugs.

San francisco has become a paradise for NGOs and the like:

→ The city spends $31,985 per homeless person on housing alone. NYC spends $11,662 and LA $5,001. 37% of homeless people in San Francisco are chronically ill, versus just 16% in New York.

→ SF gives $709 per capita of the entire welfare budget to people in poverty versus $195, $120 and $0.34 in NYC, Chicago and Phoenix respectively. If you add overhead, SF spends $15,583 per recipient while NYC spends $7,129 in total for social welfare.

Who do you think is grinning from ear to ear with so much subsidy being doled out? Hint: It's not the homeless person or the drug addict.

Progressives have turned people with mental illness and drug addiction into a "cash$cow$" "cow$".

The SF Department of Health estimated in 2019 that of the city's 8,035 homeless people, 4,000 are addicted and mentally ill. Of those 4,000, 1,600 use frequent psychiatric services.

Fun Fact: San Francisco is the largest US city with the lowest under-18 population in the US at just 13%. I don't even need to talk about the WOKE agenda for children, the data speaks for itself.

Icing on the cake: The California Senate passed Bill 553, authored by Senator Dave Cortese, which, according to him, will be to "protect employees" from being "forced" by employers to "prevent theft" inside stores 🤡

There are countless policies, outlandish ideas (give $300 for a miscreant not to shoot people) that you could spend the day listing the amount of progressive laws that, added up, have been destroying San Francisco and California.

Progressivism = Destruction
