However, NIP-04 is deprecated and not recommended anymore in favor of NIP-17.

(But still, so many clients seem to use it...)

Yes, we understand that. However, at present, NIP4 is supported by more relays. We will try using NIP4 first, and later we will consider switching to NIP17.
