Works flawlessly on CalyxOS , which has no Google services, but microG
Dosn't work on Graphene OS. It wants Google Service. :/
That's why the caveat "but with microG" in my OP.
microG is a foss implementation of some Google play service libraries.
You can get WOS to work that way, so technically it does not require *Google* services. But apparently at least microG
