I looked quite a bit for good ways to replace WebOS on my brothers LG "smart" tv with something more usable on a minicomputer but it's tough! I don't want Kodi to be the entire interface (I am sure some of you will disagree but to me and especially my none techy brother it's outdated and unintuitive) but that seems to basically be the open source option. A smart TV won't have any actually valuable data so I seriously consider some cheap Android tv box but that's far from ideal!
