It still makes you select which wallet you’re using as step one (lol what?), but doesn’t push any Bitcoin Cash nonsense anymore. It just shows you a lightning invoice and that’s it (if you select a Lightning wallet).

This step is always what throws me and then I can't figure out how to make it just friggin work with a regular-ass wallet. Last couple times I tried, I just ended up using PayPal 🤮. Didn't know they supported lightning.. I'll have to give it another spin. Paying with BTC shouldn't be this cumbersome.

Yea, to be clear BitPay sucks for a ton of reasons. But, it does let me pay for stuff with LN sometimes.

Fun report: I tried to buy something off Newegg with BitPay again today. Selected Nunchuk wallet, gave me an error, then flipped out and wanted me to create a BitPay account. I cancelled the tx and just used a credit card 🤦‍♂️. I left feedback on Newegg's site to use Opennode or BTCPayServer, because I've not once had success using BitPay on their site.

Ugh. Yea…. They’re pretty bad. I have found that it mostly works though :/

I was reading that if you just type in nonsense when it asks you for a wallet, it will give up and give you an address. I'll have to try that next time.

I’ve always just selected Phoenix, cause then it’ll give me a lightning invoice, but its behavior is very GeoIP-dependent. If you’re outside the US/in NY you might struggle (try a VPN).

Good tip, I'll try phoenix next time

Whenever I see that absurd screen for selecting wallets I remember Sergej from Bitrefill saying it was the best UX he had ever seen and that he would copy it.

It may be better than the UX of “select which shitcoin you want to pay with” first, but, yea, boy it’s terrible….

I forgot that was the alternative. Then yes, it's really an improvement.

LMAO 🤣
