Discussion
I remembered this clip of Snowden speaking yesterday when I tried to post an article on nostr. I couldnāt figure it out properly. I left frustrated and disappointed.
Yes! Absolutely!
Sometimes it feels like devs building for devs around here with little to no thought about how the new user will understand why they should, for instance, use a naddr URI for sharing their long-form content instead of pasting a URL to it on Habla or YakiHonne, or the note ID.
Iām still feeling a type of way about yesterday š
I gathered as much. š
And itās not something that would be hard to explain to the user in an appās UI...
It looks like you were using nostr:npub1yzvxlwp7wawed5vgefwfmugvumtp8c8t0etk3g8sky4n0ndvyxesnxrf8q to post your article. When you wanted to share it, YakiHonne could have displayed you two options:
- Share Within Nostr
- Share Outside Nostr
The first option would either give you the Nostr URI starting like this: `nostr:naddrā¦`
The second option would give you the web URL starting like this: `https://yakihonne.com/naddr...`
Instead, YakiHonne gives you a QR for people to scan immediately, which is kind of cool but only VERY situationally useful, and three sharing options at the bottom of the screen that are not prominent at all: Share image, Share link, and Share naddr.
āShare imageā just allows you to share an image of the QR code. Again, maybe situationally useful, but not how most people are going to want to share their article.
āShare linkā allows you to share the URL to the article, and āShare naddr gives you the `naddrā¦` WITHOUT the `nostr:` prefix. Neither give you any indication of why you would choose one over the other.
So itās no wonder you had a rough time!
I have love for everyone but Iām not trying to go to a full blown night time community college course to learn how to post a long form post on social media. š
Iām too busy.
Exactly! And you shouldn't have to. That one little UI improvement mentioned above would have saved you, and likely many other users, a lot of headache.
True. Not many using nostr understand what relay is
