Nostr isn’t just a reaction to what’s broken with legacy social media. Nostr is an active effort to build what comes next. We’re laying the foundation for a future where communities are owned by the people in them, where communication is open by default, and where freedom is designed into the system from day one. Every app we build is a conversation and every conversation we have is a brick laid on that foundation. Keep vibing.

The only way is to build the world we want to exist.

Right. If you don't build it, who's going to build it for you?

This is the way 💜. NOSTR Only

Agree 👍💯👍

That's why I am vibing joinnostr.com, still very early but the goal is to make sign up easy and understandable for new people.

It has already been posted on X multiple times, and featured on a rumble show!

That's awesome man. I think it's a nice onboarding site. Some of the fonts are a little hard to read, dark text on dark background, but other than that, it looks very nice.

Will fix 🫡

Keep building Derek 🤙

It has come to my mind.. what we build, may not be nostr. However, when I see Derek Ross or any of the other names I’m familiar with, you know it will be good. It was like that with early days of things like MySpace, Vines, etc.

do you think it is necessary to create or perfect something like the FRP (Fast Reverse Proxy) project so that you can expose your relays and storage servers so as not to depend so much on external services? because I feel that that is a part that also needs to be improved.

I would agree. I run my own relay and blossom server but it's, generally speaking, a pain in the ass for non technical users to set this up.

I haven't heard of this project. I'll have to check it out and see if it's easy to use and if so, I'll have to recommend it to other people. Thank you!

I love your positivity on here

Maybe I've not kicked the tires enough, but I feel a lot of nostr's potential is sidelined by the fact that it's just far too free-of-charge.

Everything is free here, if you want it for free. There is some donation income and embryonic business models that I can see, but surely they cover only a tiny fraction of the wider costs. And clearly there's so much other money floating around that this shortfall isn't noticed.

I think the cardinal sin of the internet is to subsidise things at the start and then "find a way" to get them to stand on their own two financial feet later. This never works and that is a lesson that the internet has learned over and over.

You have to force everyone to pay to take part, you have to force the user base to cover its costs alone. This is the only honest business model there can be for social.

Even if just a little bit, you have to force everyone.
