UNIX

I have always loved the history of Unix and all its variants.

If I had to choose an operating system for servers it would be AIX, in my opinion it is the only current operating system that meets the philosophy of UNIX.

And in many aspects it was ahead of its time as its volume manager (LVM) and JFS, it was not until ZFS that someone had "similar" things.

If I have to put a but, I never liked the ODM (AIX Object Data Manager), I always found it a move similar to the Microsoft Windows Registry, and really the serious problems I have faced with AIX have been due to ODM database corruption.

And your great documentation, an error code, an explanation.

Too bad IBM never wanted it to be open source.

Did the ODM come from OS/2? That would be a common ancestor to Windows and AIX.
