Interview host: Is it accurate to say you’ve been home schooling for 25 years?

Me: Not to be funny, but it depends on what you mean. If I consider that I've been educating my children since day one (which I have, and do consider) then I've been home schooling for more than 26 years. If you mean, "since when the government considers children need to get their education from the state", then you'd have to take off 5 years. Or 6, bc she missed the birthday cutoff. Or 2, bc some politicians want to make preschool mandatory at 3yo.

So I guess I consider that a question that's wrong at the onset 😁

Probably better to say "from the start, and her oldest is now 26". Or some such.

Oh! And then we have to add. Let's say 26 yrs for the first one + 23 yrs for the 2nd one + 21 yrs........ bc each child is different and none were educated at the same time in the same manner. So I guess I've been home educating for 146 years so far 😂
