Agree very much with all of that. We need an algo. Without one, it's like going to a restaurant where they make you grill your own steak. I suspect these "self-service" pains are causing users to exhaust out.

Oh I wasn't saying we need an algo but just noting the diff. I agree for adoption however most people will prefer it. But then we enter down the same rabbit hole Twitter went down. Who watches the watchers? Who stops the algo makers from from becoming authoritarian. I suppose it would be cool to be able to install diff algos. You like Coke I like Pepsi. I like the 'woke algo' so install that and you like the 'whatever else algo' so you install that. Optionality is probs key which would go along with the decentralized nature of things.
Yes, you allow the user to tune it.
But the market will fix bad algos too. Building an algo is 1 thing. Hard, but not insane.
Rebuilding an entire platform and server-side structure = harder.
So if an algo goes ban heavy, it's easier on Nostr to upstart a new one. Since the server-side hosting on Nostr is unaffected by a rogue algo. Only the distribution is.
