this is what wallets like muun try to do right?
Discussion
Yeah some do it right, Phoenix, Breez, Blink are the ones i tested. But still not perfect as they have the full balance in LN which makes it kind of expensive to stack into them and use them as only wallet due to fees. Blink has maximum daily amounts.
Maybe Fedimint Wallets will combine all of this, low fees (no channels), higher daily amounts (no regulatory pressure), single balance and good privacy
Phoenix now does splice-in when depositing on chain payments, really affordable, I don't understand how it works but its cheap to receive and send chain
True but receiving via lightning is terrible ux with phoenix as you have to buy liquidity first or it will do a splice in with on chain tx which costs random high fees. This can only be solved by using custodial wallets (which is not inherently bad!)
Users just want PayPal feeling & fees, no matter what protocol (onchain or ln).
see, that's the thing, they are uncomfortable with not having to KYC themselves
I think it's just hard to offer a service that has PayPal comfort but no regulatory pressure to do KYC. Fedimint probably fixes this by federating the custody to different jurisdictions.
as i have been experiencing with google play store that also means that my phone is locked to bulgaria and i can't access apps for local services that don't have operations in bulgaria
i can work around it by finding the apks and installing them but this has crippled my use of my phone and the only way they let me out of this cage is if i go open a bank account locally and ... well... see that might be a problem because i don't need to, i have a bank already, based in gibraltar
PWA's fix this i guess? Mutiny is available as PWA for example
