Okay, so I tried explaining to my coworker who buys gold, that gold will never be an economic standard again because it's used in plenty of electronics and other things now, and something being used in commodities can't be a standard of economy

And he's like "when the computers go down, all that will be left is what you hold in your hand"

To stop myself from further ranting out of frustration, the summary is, I'm slowly coming to terms that some people will not understand the future before it hits them like a bag of bricks

Because an hour and a half of googling, pulling up facts, and explaining things as simple as i could, a 44 year old man still told me I was wrong🙃🫠

You can't tell me we haven't been ideologically subverted to choose personal opinions over facts

If the internet goes down, the state of the world would be in such a place that no one would want his gold either (not that he could go out and buy anything random right now with it). People would want tangible things they can consume or skills that can help them to survive.

You have no idea how many times that argument went in circles

His argument revolved around "in the medieval times it was used as currency why wouldn't it work now"

Mine revolved around " there wouldn't even be a level of society in place for a form of currency to be created. One already in place and readily available is needed"

I'd then try to explain satoshis and the premise behind it

That was another fucking rabbit hole that just led back to "it worked in medieval times" like bro. Fucking listen.
