Does it automatically retry eventually? Or are zaps lost?

Go to settings, recovery, select "remove spent ecash" and then "increase recovery indexes".
You may or may not recover your funds. This was happening to be a lot so I switched to coinos
Remove spent ecash just crashes the app...
I know what you mean, but it actually goes through if you wait long enough. At least that would happen to me.
