OK, from my quick research it looks like surrealDB is basically a relational db that simulates a graph db but still uses indices. Index-free adjacency is what makes multi traversal queries so much more performant in a graph db like neo4j.

TBH. I'm not super savvy on graph stuff, just familiar with it. Seems like the thread got some traction with people smarter than myself though. 🙃
