A good novel is better than non fiction in my opinion. Non fiction lacks storytelling and fiction can still have a lot to learn from.

The Library Book by Susan Orlean is the first book that springs to mind. I’m pretty sure the author could write a history of paint drying on a wall and somehow enrapture an audience.
This reads like a novel 
I have other nonfiction book recommendations that are really good if you’re at all interested in the subject matter. These are just good storytelling.
