Transactional privacy and anonymity is a legitimate use case Bitcoin doesn't (yet) cover, it is PoW, the ASIC resistance means the mining is very decentralised, it has no CEO, and it's been battle tested to the point where it's the only accepted form of payment on DNMs - people around the world rely on it to literally protect their freedom.

No doubt Bitcoin is the superior store of value, but Monero is absolutely a strong useful tool for private financial transactions.

I hope that Lightning can match the level of anonymity provided by Monero eventually, and if it does it'll be much more convenient and provide instant payments, but as things stand right now XMR absolutely has a legitimate place in the free economy.

May be controversial saying this here but Monero is pretty much the only altcoin I'd say is not a shitcoin.
